MA Digital Technologies, Communication and Education (Distinction)

I completed the MA part-time over three years, and was awarded a Distinction based on my grade for both individual modules and my dissertation.

The taught modules have developed my expertise in pedagogy, digital literacies, learning design and multimedia development, and my capacity to conduct research in education.

My dissertation was project-based, and comprised the design, development and evaluation of an online community of practice space for radiologists with an interest in PET/CT scan reporting.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

Senior Learning Technologist

As part of the senior team within TEL at The Christie, I directly line manage two learning technologists and provide support and guidance to junior staff across the rest of the team, including deputising for the TEL manager when necessary.

The main project I work on is the development of online learning for the national PET-CT contract, working with the programme manager and SME colleagues in radiology and nuclear medicine, and I both produce learning interactions and material myself, and support and develop my team to do this.

I also lead on the maintenance and administration of the Moodle LMS systems for both the PET-CT Academy and the School of Oncology, supporting junior colleagues to assist users and identifying improvements that can be made to the site to increase its appeal and utility for learners.

Technology Enhanced Learning Manager

This role involved interim management of the TEL team during a period of change in the department. I directed the improvement of processes across our multiple workstreams, and providing leadership and guidance to the whole team, including line managing five staff members. My tenure in this role saw improvements in relationships, communication and collaboration, with developments in whole team practices and an optimistic view of the future of the department.

Victim Support

Locality Trainer - East & West Midlands and Wales

I delivered face to face training on a range of subjects related to crime, criminal justice and emotional support to staff and volunteers who ranged in age from 18 to 75, typically in groups of 9-24 people.

Subjects included safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, sexual violence, support skills, domestic abuse, criminal justice processes, equality and diversity and working with young people. I also wrote and developed training for face-to-face delivery, and have attended training in e-learning design, in the form of courses in instructional design and Articulate Storyline.

I was selected to undertake a concurrent role of e-learning designer due to my previous background in graphic and web design. I was subsequently involved in developing and testing award-winning national e-learning programmes from specification and first concept, through to upload and go-live.
